In December 2009, Department of Biology of MSU decided to organize the Research & Education Centre on the base of WSBS MSU. Director of the centre is Prof. Alexander Tzetlin, the current Director of WSBS MSU. Mission of the centre is to support and conduct innovative scientific and educational programs in marine biology, oceanology, and geology.
Taking this new status, WSBS MSU continues to be a subdivision of Biology Department of MSU, but gets new opportunities in attracting external scientists and in cooperating with other organizations. It is the first research and education centre of Department of Biology of MSU.
